We all love getting wedding advice from friends—especially those who’ve been in the bridal party and know all the behind-the-scenes secrets. The things that worked, the things that didn’t, and the tiny details that make the day smoother. Lucky for me, I had an incredible team of bridesmaids who helped make the morning stress-free. So, here are my must-know wedding day tips to keep things running beautifully!
1. Steam the Dresses
Get those dresses wrinkle-free the night before. Once your hair and makeup are done, you do NOT want to be near a steamer—it’ll ruin all the hard work! Hang them up neatly so they’re picture-perfect in the morning.
2. Pack a Wedding Day Emergency Kit
A mini emergency kit will be a lifesaver! Pack essentials like bobby pins, safety pins, blotting papers, tissues, a small sewing kit, band-aids, mints, and perfume. You never know what you’ll need, but you’ll be so relieved to have it!
3. Set a Running Schedule
Things can get chaotic FAST. Have a timeline for the morning—when everyone’s hair and makeup slots are, what time they need to be dressed, and when they need to be ready for photos. This avoids last-minute panic and keeps the energy calm and fun.
4. Wear a Robe or Button-Down Shirt
When getting ready, wear something that won’t mess up your hair and makeup. A robe or a button-down shirt is a game-changer—no squeezing a tight top over your head and ruining your glam!
5. Be Ready for Photos on Time
Before the photographer arrives, gather all the important items you want photographed—your wedding dress, shoes, jewelry, bouquet, invitations, perfume, and anything sentimental—so they can capture these details right away. Once they start taking photos, be ready! There’s no time for last-minute touch-ups or nerves. When they give you directions, just go with it—the more relaxed you are, the more natural and beautiful your photos will be.
6. Move Your Engagement Ring to Your Right Hand
Before walking down the aisle, switch your engagement ring to your right hand. This way, your partner can smoothly slide your wedding band onto your left ring finger without any awkward fumbling. After the ceremony, pop your engagement ring back on top!
7. Take a Moment for Yourself
Before stepping out, take a deep breath. Look around. Absorb the moment. The day moves fast, and this is your time to truly be present and feel every emotion before walking down the aisle.
With these tips in order, you’ll be able to glide through your wedding day stress-free and totally in the moment. Enjoy every second—it flies by!
